We went to the City Wide Garage Sale today in Austin. We did very well and bought some linens and paper goods. We got a bunch of newspapers from late in WWI and just after WWI. They have some really interesting photos in them. We also got some great old bottles and post cards. Mom will be making pillows this week for the upcoming Round Top show in June. I'll add more later with pictures of what we got.

Auction results

Mom and Dad did very well today at the auction and picked up some really nice smalls. They got coin silver, a french bronze statue, tin types and cabinet photos, some really nice books, and some great ink wells. The books are a limited edition from 1881 of the works of Shakespeare. These are 1/2 leather bound and frankly look like they were never read. The coin silver includes forks and different types of spoons. We will add more information once we investigate what we bought a little more, stay tuned for updates.

Our First Blog

Well today we've joined 21st century technology with 18th century style. Wild Goose Antiques has been in business at our current location for 11 years. We specialize in Texas and American country antiques, books and ephemera, china, glassware, tools, linens, toys, and marbles. On Sundays I mind the store and repair old books and create new books out of old stuff. We invite you to come in and see us Monday, Tuesday, Friday and Saturday from 10-5 and on Sunday from 1-5pm. My Brother-in-law and Sister run a restaurant next door with great American handmade food Tuesday through Friday for lunch and Thursday through Saturday for dinner. We would love for you to come in an see us. We are also always looking for additional inventory. Look at our Facebook page under Wild Goose Antiques Smithville TX and see what we carry. Right now we have some exciting Texian Campaigne transferware. We are down to 4 pieces (we are looking for more), we got a beautiful immigrant's trunk from Weimer TX. We have pictures of that on our facebook page as well. We just got done with another successful Round Top Antiques Fair at the Big Red Barn. We will be doing the Summer Show as well in June. Well I think this is enough to get started with. We will do our best to keep this going. Our plan is to post when we get new items and let you know when we are going to shows.
